Founded by Serafino (Sam) and Olimpia
(Ollie) Cerasa, the Lido Ristorante opened its doors
in December 1948. It started out in a little house on Worthington
Street and moved to its present location in 1951, operating with only
one dining room. In 1961, another dining room was added by
purchasing the old Fontana's Market on the corner of Spring and
Worthington Streets.
Sam and Ollie built an
unbeatable
reputation with their delicious Italian pasta blue plates, their own
fabulous tomato sauce, their friendly atmosphere, and attentive service
provided to all their customers. During the early years, while
raising a family and working the restaurant, they also catered to
parties and banquets.
When their two sons Joe and
Don came into the business, plans were then underway to add a banquet
room to the existing facility to better serve their customers. In
1972, the banquet room was added. It is decorated in an Italian
stone style, accented with red tablecloths, and can accommodate
functions up to 125 people.
Today, the Lido retains the same
reputation built by its founders. Joe and Don Cerasa have
continued to serve their customers with consistently enjoyable meals at
reasonable prices. Many customers today are the second and third
generations of families who started out dining at the Lido over 50 years
ago!
The
Lido can accommodate large parties on short notice. Reservations
are accepted, and recommended on weekends. All major credit cards are
accepted. Dinners, sauces and dressings are available for take-out.
Gift certificates are always available. A Children's menu is offered
for those 10 years and younger.
